Windang Bridge
Windang Bridge connects Lake Illawarra to the ocean and is one of the most productive fishing areas in the region. The strong tidal flow through the channel creates defined current lines and bait movement, attracting species year-round. Common catches include bream, flathead, whiting and trevally, with mulloway and tailor also caught, particularly around tide changes. The deeper channel edges and areas near the bridge pylons hold fish, especially on a run-in or run-out tide. ⚠️ Fishing from Windang Bridge itself is prohibited. Anglers should fish from the shoreline, nearby rock walls or by boat instead. Light to medium gear works well here. Soft plastics, vibes and fresh or live bait are all effective depending on conditions. Be mindful of strong currents and boat traffic.
